Removing Rubbish: Tips, Ideas and Strategies

Two reasons to rent a skip bin from a rubbish removal company before de-cluttering a house

by Gwendolyn Washington

If you need to clear out an extremely cluttered house, you should consider renting a skip bin from your local rubbish removal company before you begin. Read on to find out why.

It could help to prevent accidents

If the house that you will be de-cluttering is brimming over with items that need to be disposed of and you don't have a designated, enclosed bin in which to put this rubbish, you will probably end up placing it in refuse bags and leaving these bags scattered around the garden or on the floor inside the house until you have time to take it to the local refuse site.

This approach could significantly increase the risk of someone getting hurt during the de-cluttering process. There are several reasons for this; firstly, anyone in the vicinity of the house could end up tripping over one of the bags and injuring themselves.

Secondly, if one of the bags contain a sharp object (such as a shard of glass, a broken vase or an old kitchen knife) which protrudes through the plastic bag, anyone who brushes their leg against the bag whilst walking past it could sustain a deep laceration. If the object in question is rusty or dirty, they could also be at risk of an infection.

Thirdly, if there are old bottles of household chemicals (such as bleach, white spirits, drain cleaners, etc) in the bags, any nearby animals (such as, for example, the next-door neighbour's pet dog or cat) could potentially break these bags open, ingest some of these toxic chemicals and become seriously ill.

If, on the other hand, you arrange for a rubbish removal company to provide you with one or two skip bins and to collect the contents of these bins when they reach maximum capacity, there will be virtually no risk of anyone being hurt as a result of coming into contact with potentially hazardous refuse.

It will make this exhausting process a little easier

Clearing out an incredibly messy, cluttered property can be mentally and physically exhausting. At the end of this process, you will probably want to simply take a bath to soothe your aching muscles and get an early night.

However, if you don't use the services of a rubbish removal company, you won't be able to do this. Instead, you will have to stuff as many rubbish-filled bags into your vehicle as you can, drive down to the local landfill and throw all of these bags away. You may then need to repeat this process several times in order to get rid of every last bit of rubbish. This could take at least a few hours.

Conversely, if you rent a couple of skip bins from a rubbish removal company, the employees of this company will simply arrive at your doorstep at an agreed-upon time and take both the bins and the rubbish inside them away, after which they will dispose of the refuse in a responsible manner. This could make the de-cluttering process far less mentally and physically challenging.
